Courses in French at MS

Students who select French as their third language must conclude 15 upper secondary credits in French.

FRAN1GR05(ms) - Base course

This is a beginner's course and the main emphasis is that students learn the basics of the language. From the beginning students receive training in the four language skills: speaking, listening, writing and reading. Emhasis is on pronunciation, the basic elements of usage and the structure of the vocabulary of the language. Students get to know the culture, customs and the lay of the land of various language areas. At the end of the year, students should have reached a proficiency level equal to A1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

FRAN1MÁ05(ms) - Language, usage and culture of the language

Work towards increased profiency in reading, speaking, listening and writing is continued. Texts become gradually more difficult. Vocabulary is increased, students are trained in new grammar units and he basics of the langage strucuture are finalised. Students work with all kinds of learning material, read a simple novel or short stories and do various assignments in relation to them. Viusal material is also embedded into the teaching as possible. The introduction of culture and the lay of the land of relevant linguistic areas is continued. Students' indenpendence in work methods is encouraged as well as using relevant auxiliary material. Dictionaries, grammar books, and the internet used for gathering of information. At the end of the year, students should have reached a proficiency level equal to A2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Prerequisite: FRAN1GR05(ms).

FRAN1FR05(ms) - A continuation of grammar and usage

In this first part of level two, work towards increased profiency in reading, speaking, listening and writing is gradually continued. Increased chances for students to practice communication is looked for. Students receive practice in new grammar points and grammar points from the lower level is dealt with more deeply. Various learning material is used along with other material such as the reading of various fiction, real texts, listening and videomaterial. Richer emphasis is placed on culture and societal matters and other areas of society. Students do independent projects and impart them orally and in writien form in equal measure. At the end of the year, students should have reached a proficiency level up toto A2-B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

FRAN2ES05(ms) - Usage and cultural reading

Work towards increased profiency in reading, speaking, listening and writing is gradually continued. Increased chances for students to practice communication is looked for. Viusal material is also embedded into the teaching as possible. In this latter part of level two, the learning material is mostly thematic, where culture, art and other fields of society. Texts of various kind are read, such as. literary texts and paper and magazine articles. Texts are dealt with deeper than before. Other forms of culture and art are also studied. Students do independent projects and impart them orally and in writien form in equal measure. French films will be shown. At the end of the year, students should have reached a proficiency level up toto B1-B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

FRAN2PA05(ms) - Paris

In the elective course Paris students become familiar with various curious things in the history of Paris, art history and whatever concerns civilian life in the city. Subjects chosen that ordinarily arouse the interest of those who intend to go to the city and want to gain knowledge and understanding beforehand. The course revolves around project work and the history of Paris, its civilians and areas. Students also organise a three-day studytrip to Paris and thus a great emphasis is placed on the language. During the trip the Louvre musem is visited, but also Versailles, know parts of the city and other famous tourist locations. Free time for activities is given and it is often during these times that enjoyable stories of communication are born and a certain cultural flow occurs. It is possible to have the course evalued without the trip by taking on a special extra project.
